The most energy efficient use of landfill gas is upgrading it to biomethane

One of the three landfill gas utilisation methods

Landfill gas typically sits between 35 to 60% methane. Gas upgrading cleans out the rest: CO2, nitrogen, oxygen, and other impurities. This leaves the biomethane ready to go straight into the grid, supplying homes, businesses and industry with green gas. However, only a few landfill sites do this.

That's because it’s hard to get landfill gas up to the spec the gas grid requires (>90% methane), all while keeping the economics viable and dealing with day to day gas quality volatility.

Hydryx keeps that landfill gas steady through continuous well tuning: nitrogen and oxygen down, flow maintained, whatever the weather or the site throws at it.For sites already running an upgrader, that means it can run at its best.

For sites still evaluating one, it means de-risking that investment decision with more predictable gas quality and flow.
