New feature: Visualize forecasted barometric pressure

It's the most important metric landfill engineers check, because it's the strongest indicator of future gas quality. That’s why the first thing we evaluate when we onboard a new landfill is how much gas quality moves with the barometric pressure.

When pressure drops, gas underground expands and moves up and out of the landfill faster than usual. If the wells aren't tuned to anticipate it, that extra gas escapes uncaptured instead of reaching the engine.

When pressure rises, the flow reverses: atmospheric air moves into the ground, risking oxygen ingress. If the wells aren't adjusted for it, that ingress goes unchecked, and the engine trips on it.

Knowing which way barometric pressure is about to move, before it moves, is what lets a site get ahead of both problems. Hydryx now shows the forecasted barometric pressure directly on the dashboard.

We pull the forecast from an open source weather data provider that uses a grid system to calculate the weather data ~5 km of a site’s location, needing no onsite weather monitoring equipment to be installed.

We've already rolled out the pressure forecast feature to a few customers, and they've been using it daily!

This feature also unlocks new possibilities.

• Pressure forecasts already feed our algorithm, and we're working to have wells tune to live forecast data. More on this soon.
• Eventually we even want to predict the gas quality itself.
