Bas ten Haaf joined us in April as our Data Scientist

Meet Hydryx's new algorithm wizard
Bas comes to us from QuTech, where he spent four years in the Goswami Lab researching quantum phenomena. He's passionate about condensed matter physics, and it shows: a cum laude PhD and 15 publications to his name. Two of them in Nature, one of the most selective scientific journals in the world.
He came across Hydryx right after finishing his PhD, and what pulled him in was simple: a company tackling a concrete, measurable problem: maximizing the capture of landfill gas.
At Hydryx, Bas is our algorithm wizard. Since joining, he's already restructured the software infrastructure around our core algorithm, making it far more scalable. He also built our analytics backend, making it way easier to monitor and optimize the algorithm, all within 5 months.
Charlotte, data analyst, put it well,
“Having someone else with a physics background here is great! We think alike and share a ton of ideas even beyond landfills.”
Outside of work: Bas plays football on two teams, regular and futsal. He lives in The Hague, because being close to the beach is non-negotiable. He picked up Spanish after a trip to Colombia. This year's project: learning guitar, and maybe his first marathon.
Welcome (officially) to Hydryx, Bas! 🙌
